UA Hosts 3rd Project Meeting in Alicante, Spain: Revolutionising STEAM Education for Inclusion
Alicante, September 19, 2023 –
The University of Alicante is set to host its 3rd Project Meeting on September 21st-22nd, 2023, at the Edificio Germán Bernacer on the University of Alicante campus. This event marks a significant milestone in the ongoing initiative aimed at transforming STEAM education to be more inclusive.
SpicE is dedicated to breaking barriers and addressing the silent marginalization of students with mild disabilities in European school systems. It seeks to bridge the gap between STEAM and Special Education models by providing practical guidelines, curricula, and training opportunities for teachers. The project also aligns with international research on STEAM, Universal Design for Learning (UDL), inclusion of primary education students with mild disabilities, and teacher training. By enhancing educators’ skills through lifelong learning, it aims to drive inclusive education forward.
Partners of the 3rd Project Meeting of SpicE will receive updates on the project’s current status and the key milestones reached, highlighting its dedication to enhancing education. Moreover, the event will emphasise the importance of building a strong Community of Practice, fostering collaboration among educators and stakeholders to improve inclusive education.
A core objective of the project to be discussed during this event is the professional development of STEAM Special educators, with a particular focus on Work Package 3 (WP3), training curriculum, interactive workshops, training mobilities, and blended training.
The development of Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs) and educational material for Virtual Learning Environments (VLEs) underscores the role of technology in modern education, making it one of the main focus points of this event.
The 3rd Project Meeting promises to be a pivotal event, propelling the cause of inclusive education and reaffirming the University of Alicante’s commitment to advancing the future of learning. This gathering of minds will shape the trajectory of STEAM education, ensuring that no student is left behind.
