Research Paper on STEAM Educators Presented at EAEEIE 2023 Conference
Members of the SPICE project from the Hellenic Open University (HOU) recently attended the 32nd Annual Conference of the European Association for Education in Electrical and Information Engineering (EAEEIE 2023) in Eindhoven, The Netherlands. They presented an insightful paper titled “STEAM educator, one educator who does it all? An investigation of educators’ perceptions regarding the definition of STEAM educators’ job profile(s).”
The conference, held from June 14th to June 16th, brought together renowned researchers, educators, and professionals in the field of electrical and information engineering.
The research, co-authored by Natalia Spyropoulou and Prof. Achilles Kameas, Coordinator of SpicE project, delved into the multifaceted nature of STEAM education and the expectations placed upon educators in this field. By examining the viewpoints of educators, themselves, the study aimed to contribute to the ongoing discussions and advancements in STEAM education.
Τhe paper presentation sparked engaging conversations and valuable exchanges of ideas. The paper highlighted the challenges, opportunities, and potential strategies for defining and shaping the role of STEAM educators, addressing the critical need for a comprehensive understanding of their responsibilities.
The participation in EAEEIE 2023 provided an excellent platform for networking, collaboration, and staying abreast of the latest developments in the field This work aims to drive the advancement of STEAM education and contributes to the broader mission of Project SpicE.
