Since <\/span>October 2019<\/span> the <\/span>Cyprus Ministry of Education, Sport and Youth <\/span>implements a STEM program<\/span> in <\/span>a number of<\/span> primary schools throu<\/span>gh<\/span>out all he d<\/span>i<\/span>s<\/span>tricts of Cyprus.<\/span> From the beginning of the current school year 2023-2024<\/span>,<\/span> the Ministry decided to extend the program<\/span> in order<\/span> to<\/span> include 14 schools.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t<\/div>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>

The <\/span>STEM program<\/span> takes place <\/span>after\u00a0<\/span> school<\/span> <\/span>\u03b9<\/span><\/span>n<\/span> 80 minute<\/span> sessions <\/span>twice a week and <\/span>is<\/span> addressed to 6th grade students <\/span>who<\/span> choose<\/span> to attend<\/span> it.<\/span> In the case of all-day schools, the course is integrated in the<\/span> interest subjects of the afternoon zone. The schools that do <\/span>not\u00a0 operate<\/span> an afternoon <\/span>zone,<\/span> extend<\/span> their normal morning session after <\/span>1<\/span>.05 pm to include STEM classes.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t<\/div>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>

During their involvement in the course<\/span>\u2019 <\/span>s<\/span> project<\/span>–<\/span>based activities, students<\/span> utilize<\/span> knowledge, concepts, <\/span>procedures<\/span> and practices from the fields of Natural Sciences, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics<\/span> in integrated learning settings<\/span>, to deal with problematic<\/span> situations<\/span> and issues related to the world of everyday life.<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t<\/div>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>

T<\/span>eachers<\/span> with <\/span>qualifications and\/or<\/span> excellent knowledge and skills in teaching <\/span>the\u00a0 S.T.E.M<\/span>\u00a0<\/span> disciplines are selected to<\/span> teach <\/span>in<\/span> the course.
